How each Moonlighter 2 weapon family plays

Compare the role and core mechanic first. Damage also depends on upgrades, perks and how reliably you complete the weapon's attack pattern.

Merchant's SwordShort Sword family
A balanced first choice with moderate speed and reach
A four-hit combo ends in a finisher; the spinning special covers enemies around Will.
Merchant's Large SwordGreat Sword family
Slow, heavy hits and strong knockback
Regular attacks spend Sharpness; the special restores it, so damage depends on managing the meter.

Fast close-range pressure
Rapid attacks build the special meter; filling it activates Berserk for a more aggressive rhythm.

Weapons and aspects

Starter families, later weapons and Endless Aspects

These terms describe different parts of the equipment system.

Starter family

Your opening choice gives you one base weapon from a family. The remaining base families can be unlocked later, so the first choice does not remove the others.

Later individual weapons

Updates added four individual weapons after launch. They are additional equipment choices, not four extra family categories.

Endless Aspect

Version 1.0 adds a named Endless Aspect to each family. Read its effect and unlock condition in game before changing a build around it.

Short Sword family

Endless Short Sword

Higher combo counts add more strikes to its multi-hit thrust.

Great Sword family

Endless Great Sword

Its defensive stance can block, build Sharpness and answer with a counterattack.

Spear family

Endless Spear

Spend stored spearheads to strengthen regular attacks for a limited time.

Gauntlets family

Endless Gauntlets

Attacks gain an extra boost while Berserk is active.

Choose by combat rhythm

How to choose a Moonlighter 2 weapon family

  1. Pick the role you need: balanced coverage, heavy impact, long straight reach or close-range speed.
  2. Practice the full primary combo and special attack against the same familiar encounter.
  3. Keep armor and perks similar while comparing how often you can attack, dodge and recover safely.
  4. Spend upgrade materials after one family feels reliable in both ordinary rooms and tougher encounters.

Choose Merchant's Sword

Start here when you want a balanced combo, a circular special and room to learn enemy timing.

Choose Merchant's Large Sword

Use it when you prefer deliberate heavy hits and are comfortable restoring Sharpness between attacks.

Choose Merchant's Spear

Use it when you like straight-line spacing and can position enemies between Will and recalled spearheads.

Choose Merchant's Gauntlets

Use them when you prefer fast close-range pressure and can stay near enemies while building Berserk.
