Moonlighter Secret Rooms: How They Work

Moonlighter secret rooms are entered through a dark pit that shows a brief white sparkle when the room loads. Clear the enemies, then dodge-roll into that marked pit. If you miss the cue, leave and re-enter the room to see it again.

Entrance steps

How to enter Moonlighter secret rooms

The cue appears over a pit, not on a wall. Watch as the room loads, then use the marked hole only after the fight is safe.

Step
What to do
Safety check
01 · Watch when the room loads
Look at every dark pit for a brief white sparkle floating above it.
If you missed the first moment, leave the room and return to replay the cue.
02 · Clear the enemies
Finish the fight before approaching the marked pit so an attack does not interrupt the entry roll.
Skip the room if your health is too low to risk another encounter.
03 · Roll into the marked pit
Use the dodge roll to enter the pit that showed the sparkle.
Do not test unmarked pits; they normally damage Will and return him to the room.
04 · Read the hidden room
Check for a chest, a book pedestal or the Wave Room pillar before committing to a reward.
Leave if the reward is not worth the remaining health or bag risk.

Hidden-room rewards

Moonlighter secret room types

Look before interacting. Some rooms give immediate storage or loot; the Wave Room asks you to risk health for a better chest.

Combat challenge

Wave Room

Activate the pillar to start a wave. Each cleared wave improves the chest from wood toward rarer tiers. Opening the chest ends the challenge.

Inventory relief

Green transport chest

Place items inside to send them back to the shop. Use it to protect valuable stock and free bag space before continuing.

Collectible choice

Book pedestal

The book occupies an inventory place, so decide which carried item you are willing to leave behind before taking it.

Immediate reward

Abandoned or empty room

Some hidden rooms contain loose items; others contain no reward. Collect what helps and return to the normal dungeon route.

Run safety

Protect the run before searching every room

Before a boss

Do not start another Wave Room chain when the reward is less useful than the health and potions needed for the boss floor.

With a valuable bag

Use a transport chest when available, or leave the dungeon once the haul matters more than one additional hidden-room reward.

Quick answers

Moonlighter secret room questions

How do you find secret rooms in Moonlighter?

Watch the pits as each room loads. A brief white sparkle above one pit marks a secret-room entrance. Clear the enemies, then roll into that marked pit.

Can you make the secret-room sparkle appear again?

Yes. If you miss the brief cue, leave through a normal doorway and re-enter the room, then watch the pits as it loads again.

What happens if you roll into the wrong pit?

An unmarked pit normally damages Will and returns him to the room. Use only the pit that displayed the white sparkle.

What is a Wave Room?

A Wave Room contains a pillar that starts an enemy wave. Clearing a wave improves the reward chest; opening the chest ends the sequence, so continue only while your health supports another fight.

What does the green transport chest do?

Items placed in the green transport chest are sent back to the shop, freeing inventory space while you continue the dungeon.
